“Hello Zing! Aileen speaking, how can I help you?”. You all have talked to her at least once but some of you might not be able to put a face to this familiar name. We heard you and that’s why we decided to fix it by doing an interview Meet Aileen!
Hi Aileen, thank you for doing this interview. Please, introduce yourself.
Hi, my name is Aileen Convery. I am the office manager in Zing. I am married to Mike and we have two little boys: Michael Óg who is 5 and Conan who is 3.
Can you describe your role within the company?
As the office manager, I oversee the day to day running of the office between the art room and the production. My main role is liaising with customers, general sales, pricing and following up on quotes.
You said that you have two boys. So, how would you describe your job to your kids?
I work in an office (laughs). We print. We print a lot of colourful things.
How long have you been working at Zing?
13 years on the first of July.
Can you describe your academic career?
Firstly, I completed a HND in business studies at Belfast Tech before a degree in business management at Queens University. Following Queens, I completed a graduate program which led to my placement at Zing.
What does a typical day at Zing involve for you?
Every day at Zing is different. In the morning, after I check the emails, we have a production meeting to see what is required that day or for the next day. Then, we speak to John and Leisa (Zing graphic designers) to organize what they have on their boards that day. Then, it’s generally pricing, dealing with customers and getting jobs completed on time for our lovely customers!
And you forgot about dealing with John’s jokes?
Yes, dealing with John’s jokes all day (laughs)
According to you, what are the essential qualities for someone in your position?
Patience and good communication skills.
What are your hobbies?
I have a keen interest in camogie. I played for 30 years although I retired last year. At the minute, I also like walking and running.
I ask your co-workers to describe you in one word, here is what they said: “soft”and “nice”... Is that true?
Soft? She looks surprised. Ok, probably. Then, nice, I will take that.
What about you, how would you describe yourself?
I agree. And last question, who is your favorite co-worker?
I can’t answer that!
No worries, I know that I am your favorite one.
Yes but don’t let others know it.
If you have any enquiries or orders, please contact Aileen.
